Resources
The C3 staff is honored to be involved with
several local community resources. We are happy
to give our time and energy to organizations
like these who help build healthy families.

Girls
on the Run® is a 501(c)3 positive
youth development program which combines an interactive
curriculum and running to inspire self-respect
and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our
core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their
physical, emotional, mental and social well-being.
Lessons provide girls with the tools to make
positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent
behaviors.

Council For Children's
Rights fulfills
its mission by working on issues important
to children today and tomorrow.
For children who have an immediate need or crisis,
the Council intervenes on behalf of children
via three teams: Children’s Defense Team,
Custody Advocacy Program, and the Individual
Advocacy Team.
They provide attorneys, advocates and staff
to protect the rights and interests of children
who find themselves in need of a voice. They
also connect children and their families with
agencies and institutions that help them thrive.
Through the work of the
Larry King Center for Building Children’s Futures, the Council
for Children’s Rights also looks out for
the long-term well-being of children tomorrow
by: Maximizing the effectiveness and impact of
work being done for children by providers, agencies
and funders, and helping to find long-term solutions
to chronic problems affecting children in our
community. Building a strong platform for the
future well-being of every child through four
key roles: Community Engagement, Community Planning,
Public Policy, and Research and Evaluation.

Charlotte Family Housing (CFH) is an innovative
solution for family homelessness in the greater
Charlotte community. In its two-phase continuum
of care model, CFH provides supportive transitional
shelter and affordable housing for its families.
During both phases, the families work closely
with social workers to receive intensive family-focused
care and support such as vocational counseling,
parenting skills and financial literacy. CFH
empowers families to take positive steps in both
phases to achieve financial independence and
self-reliance. In addition, CFH will work closely
with Charlotte community volunteers in order
to drive success for homeless families. The model
encompasses both short-term and long-term volunteer
opportunities to help the families succeed. CFH
will continue to foster a movement of long-term
engagement with the families in order to break
the vicious cycle of generational poverty. CFH
will achieve this by providing training and a
multi-year support system to community volunteers
to work closely with the families to sustain
their success.

Loaves and Fishes provides a week's worth
of nutritious groceries to individuals and families
in a short-term crisis. In 2011, Loaves & Fishes
provided groceries to 114,177 people. Loaves & Fishes
is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nondenominational organization,
founded and operated by local religious congregations
and community organizations. It grew out of an
effort in 1975 at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church
to respond to the growing hunger problem in Mecklenburg
County North Carolina and continues to expand
to meet that need.
Pat's
Place, incorporated in 2004,
is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and is
one of just over
700 centers nationwide and 22 centers in North
Carolina accredited by the National Children's
Alliance. Since inception, Pat's Place has assisted
over 2,000 children affected by sexual abuse
throughout Mecklenburg County.
